Diaspora Shorts
The Diaspora Shorts section of the 2025 festival is once again filled with official submissions. Out of 794 submissions, 686 were short films, and 31 were selected. This year, we introduced a panel of four judges to bring diverse perspectives to the selection process, resulting in a more varied lineup. The passion of young filmmakers, who have tackled global diaspora issues through a variety of perspectives and methodologies, continues to shine. In particular, the energy from Asian filmmakers, especially those from Taiwan, was phenomenal. The genre diversity remains strong, with narrative films, documentaries, animation, experimental films, and video art. The borders on the screen are disappearing. It's time to unravel the borders of the world we live in. The works of the Diaspora Shorts section will deliver insights that challenge boundaries and fight against discrimination. (Hyuksang Kimsan)
