Diaspora Features

Under the third year of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the movie industry in 2022 is still suffering from hardships. As the energy of moviegoers heading to the theaters shifted to new platforms such as OTT, feature film production sites remained silent for a long time. However, even amid the drought, there are films like the welcoming rain that make us happy. In particular, the documentaries that quickly respond to the issue of the diaspora are amazing this year as well. It is also impressive that many films nowadays have various reflections of ‘diaspora.’ Even in the films where diaspora is not revealed directly, we can see diaspora elements delicately planted in as cinematic devices. Now, diaspora is reproduced in many ways and not in one form. It is time for us to see the ‘visible’ diaspora throughout our society.
