Diaspora Shorts
There is full of energy and dynamism in this year¡¯s ¡®Diaspora Shorts¡¯ that has been a mirror of the times. Activism documentaries remain quick and acute by fearlessly covering various political and social agendas. Fiction films are also accurately aware of the conflict and reconciliation between natives and immigrants. Plus, it is always good to see the challenges of the diaspora themselves who are never afraid of being filmed and are even directly involved in the film productions. Female diasporas, in the meantime, are continuing to make big progress in search of their own path beyond the deep-rooted patriarchy system. It is just amazing to see their fresh imagination to reflect on the diaspora while crossing over class, gender, race, nationality, gender identity, and religion. This is why short films are still avant-garde among all genres. (Hyuksang Ksan Lee)
