Director FAN Popo has made a name for himself with his documentary series Mama Rainbow (2012) and Papa Rainbow (2016), which covered the daily lives, solidary and struggles of Chinese gays and lesbians, and their parents. More recently, he is focusing on creating fictional short films on sexual minorities. The film, which is based in Berlin, starts with Chinese Tao, who comes out of the club for a cigarette. The urine of a drunkard that is urinating next to Tao splatters on to him, and upon seeing this, Sebastian, a local, hands Tao a napkin. Interested in Tao after seeing him dance in the club, Sebastian blindly follows Tao who is heading home, in the midst of the Berlin dawn. During their short walk, they talk about each other¡¯s racial and cultural perceptions and identify their differences in values. In particular, Sebastian, who was being nice and caring to Tao anticipating for romantic developments, can only smile in disappointment at the unexpected conclusion. It is interesting to see the irony that a man of Chinese diaspora, who is usually discriminated and marginalized upon, takes dominant position in the romantic relationship with a local German.
