The film begins with Petra Genetrix, awakening to find itself dropped on Crypto Valley, transcending time and space, going through migration review. Petra speaks languages, but has no aura of a living thing, as it is composed of golden hexahedron minerals rotating in mid-air. In contrast, the suited migration officer clearly resembles a human being. It is very odd of him to ask Petra administrative questions that seem to be only fit for ‘humans’. This clearly reveals the irrational standards that judge the tough lives of migrants too easily. On the other hand, cutting edge data technology, which only its existence acts as proof, seduces consumers by promoting an easier paperless migration process. Migration becomes a commodity sold in markets. The futuristic and fictitious world sharply contrasts the two extremes of strict bureaucracy over migrants and extensive commercialization of migration. Alas, primordial Earth, which was once only a huge mass without any borders leads us to rethink the essence of migration. (KIM Kyung-tae)
