Jin-chul and Sung-mi are living in their van while looking for a place where they can both live and run a small business. The realtor encourages them to get the government house mortgage for newly-married couples since it is not easy to find a place they¡¯re looking for with their budget. Sung-mi is enthusiastic about this idea as it means she can get a house, but Jin-chul is hesitant about getting married. Eventually, the difference in opinions lay distrust and betrayal. Sung-mi¡¯s inability to claim property rights as she does not have Korean citizenship and Jin-chul¡¯s mental state that does not allow him to dream of starting a new family due to his collapsed livelihood oddly mirror each other. Korea Town depicts this tough reality of pursuing new opportunities and reveals that the condition of life is determined by capital, not by citizenship. This is the fourth short film of AHN So Hoe, who graduated from the Seoul Institute of the Arts and attracted attention at the Incheon Independent Film Festival 2017 for Early Leave. (LEE Dong-yun)
