In East Africa, there is a country called Djibouti. In Djibouti, there is a town known as Obock. There is a Yemeni refugee camp in Obock, where two best friends, Laish and Tariq, reside. Tariq hears that his father will soon be released and proposes to Laish that they go to Yemen together. They have to cross the ocean in order to reach Yemen from Obock, but the two friends start walking towards Yemen. Director Sufian Abulohom was born in Yemen and migrated to the U.S. when he was 15. He majored in film and has been continuously producing work related to Yemen. All of his works, including The Way Home, contain love and concern for his home of Yemen. The feelings expressed by Tariq and Laish are probably the same as the director, as well as all the Yemeni refugees scattered across the world. (LEE Hyuk-sang)
