Tin Win Naing, who was on the government¡¯s wanted list for filming the 2007 Saffron Revolution in Myanmar, fled his home country and crossed illegally into Thailand. There were already many Myanmar refugees, who chose to live as refugees for economic reasons, unlike Tin Win Naing. The director who now gets to face the slavery and exploitation of the refugees and starts what he does the best. Making a new documentary. So the refugee director started to film the refugees. < In Exile > is a public record about the Asian refugees rarely known to the world, and it is also the record of the director¡¯s will to survive from the harsh exile.

  • Tin Win Naing

    Born in Yangon, Myanmar, Tin Win Naing began his career as a filmmaker in 1995. Tin Win Naing continues to make many short films and shoot the multiple award-winning documentary and the internationally distributed feature as the lead cinematographer. Now he is teaching cinematography at Yangon Film School, Myanmar.
